Scope
A hydrographic and topographic survey approximately 3 miles of jetties along the north and south sides of the St. Mary’s River entrance.

Main Project Tasks
Three miles of jetties along the north and south sides of entrance to the St. Marys River. The survey was accomplished through the use of an inflatable pontoon boat with an aluminum hull that could make contact with the jetty rocks. Cross-sections were run on 100’ stations perpendicular the jetty centerline. The portion of the cross-section below water level was surveyed with an Odom MK III fathomer interfaced with GPS/RTK equipment through HYPACK hydrographic survey software.
The portion of the jetty above the water level was surveyed with GPS/RTK. The receiver was mounted on a pole perpendicular to a normal configuration in order for the crew member to reach out of the boat and place it directly on the rocks. Each cross-section was completed in four visits; the hydrographic portion on each side and the exposed portion on each side.
This was a very challenging survey due to the need for very calm seas and the unusual equipment and technique required to complete the work safely.
