Main Project Tasks
Degrove Surveyors, as a subconsultant to sister company Bradshaw-Niles, & Associates, provided subsurface utility location support for an As-built Survey of the Anastasia Wastewater Treatment Plant expansion in St. Augustine, Florida. The expansion, a project owned by the St. Johns County Utility Department, connects the Anastasia Island Plant to another wastewater plant located across the Intracoastal Waterway.
Challenges were presented by the extreme depth of some pipes, as well as the density and complexity of the subsurface pipe network. Degrove located a variety of subsurface pipes throughout the plant utilizing electromagnetic locators and ground penetrating radar (GPR). Crews also utilized a vacuum excavator to complete approximately 60 soft-dig test holes, verifying pipe size, type, and location at critical points in the netw
